Event Guidelines

Nature of the Event

This is not a competitive race. There are no rankings, timings, podiums, or winners. The event celebrates movement in all forms-running, walking, wheeling, using assistive devices, or moving with support. Every participant may choose their own pace, distance, and mode of movement.

Participation & Movement

Participants may: Run, walk, stroll, wheel, glide, limp, pause, or move with assistance. Use wheelchairs, prosthetics, crutches, walkers, sensory aids, or any assistive device. Participants may start together, move together, or finish separately. Taking breaks is encouraged and respected.

Helpers, Companions & Allies

Helping is recognized as participation.

Participants may accompany, push, guide, support, or assist others at any point.

Helpers may be: Family members, Friends, Volunteers, Fellow participants. There is no restriction on the number of helpers accompanying a participant.

Recognition for Helping & Inclusion

Instead of prizes for speed, the event honours acts of inclusion.

The following will be formally recognised:

• Participants who support someone with sensory, cognitive, or emotional needs

• Groups or families who move together inclusively

• Volunteers and participants who ensure no one is left behind

Recognition may include:

Special Inclusion Badges / Ribbons, Certificates of “Inclusion Ally” or “Movement Partner”, Public acknowledgement during closing remarks, Mentions on event communication channels (with consent)

Pace & Distance

There is no minimum or maximum pace. Participants may turn back, stop early, or change routes without explanation. Completing the full distance is not required to be considered a participant.

Not a Race. A Shared Movement.

Courtesy & Shared Responsibility

All participants are expected to: Be patient and respectful of varied movement styles. Give priority to wheelchair users and those requiring more space or time. Avoid rushing, overtaking aggressively, or pressuring others to move faster. Offer help when safe and welcome.

Language & Behaviour

Ableist, dismissive, or competitive language is discouraged (e.g., “slow”, “last”, “winning”, “losing”). Celebrate effort, presence, and support, not speed or endurance. Photography or social media posts should be shared only with consent, especially involving children or persons with disabilities.

Safety & Comfort

Participants should move within their own comfort and medical limits. Medical or support volunteers will be present along the route. Any participant may withdraw at any time without penalty or explanation.

Spirit of the Event

This event stands for: Inclusion over competition, Support over speed, Community over comparison. Every body that moves—and every person who helps another move—is equally valued.
